Path Offset

Intro

Shrink or grow paths.

UI

Closed Paths Mode - Determine which direction(s) the path is offset in:

  • Single Sided - A positive Offset value will offset the path outwards.
  • Double Sided - Offset the path both inwards and outwards.

Open Paths Cap Style - Set the appearance of caps (each end of the stroke) on open paths:

  • Flat - A flat end that terminates at the end point.
  • Round - A hemispherical end with the end point at its centre.
  • Projecting - A flat end that projects half the Stroke's Width beyond the end point.
  • Joined - Extend the caps so they connect each end of the path.

Offset - Set a value to offset a path by.

Rounded - Add rounding to any external corner points.

Example
  1. Draw a closed Shape with the Pen tool.
  2. In the Attribute Editor, Click the Deformers attribute + icon and choose Path Offset.
  3. Right click on the Path Offset's Offset attribute and choose Add Behaviour > Stagger.
  4. Set the Stagger's Maximum to 100.
  5. With the Shape selected, click the Duplicator icon in the Shelf.
  6. Set the Duplicator's Distribution to Point.

Each duplicated path increases in size. Try increasing the Duplicator's Count and/or adjusting the Stagger's Graph.

info

Path Offset does not support a mixture of closed and open Contours within the same Path. Paths are offset as a whole producing more predictable results for Text. It is however, possible to connect the same Path Offset to more than one Shape.
